Yes. Volvelle is completely free. No paid tier, no ads, and no features held hostage behind a subscription. The code is licensed AGPL-3.0 and the source opens at full launch.

Do I need an account to play?

No. Start a Quick Battle, share the link (or a short code), and your players join with no account. Sign in only when you want to save maps and campaigns.

Does Volvelle only work with D&D?

No. The battle map is system-agnostic, so you can play any tabletop RPG on it. D&D 5e has full rules support today (free, when you sign in), with more systems on the way.

Can I play D&D online for free?

Play D&D, or any system, on the free map. Sign in (free) to switch on the D&D 5e rules engine, character sheets and the compendium.

Can I make a battle map without downloading anything?

Yes. Draw your battle map right in the browser, or start from a built-in template. There is nothing to install.

How do my friends join?

What happens to my table if someone leaves?
