Is Volvelle free?
Yes. The battle map is free with no account, and a free account unlocks the rules engine, character sheets and compendium. There are no ads and privacy-first analytics you can turn off, and self-hosting is free under AGPL-3.0 (the source opens at full launch).
Do I need an account to play?
No. Start a Quick Battle, share the link (or a short code), and your players join with no account. Sign in only when you want to save maps and campaigns.
Does Volvelle only work with D&D?
No. The battle map is system-agnostic, so you can play any tabletop RPG on it. D&D 5e has full rules support today (free, when you sign in), with more systems on the way.
Can I play D&D online for free?
