01The short version#

Plain English

Volvelle is a tool for playing tabletop RPGs online. Use it for that, treat other people well, and understand that a small team provides it as-is. Your characters, maps, and homebrew stay yours. The sections below are the part that is legally binding; this summary is just here to be readable.

These Terms and Conditions are an agreement between you and Marta Strzelec, who operates Volvelle. By creating an account or using Volvelle, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

02Who can use Volvelle#

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use Volvelle. This is the age at which you can agree to these terms and to the processing of your personal data under the rules that apply to us. If you are under 16, please do not sign up.

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else is using it.

03Your content stays yours#

Anything you create in Volvelle (characters, maps, homebrew, notes, campaigns) belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of it.

To actually run the service, you grant us a limited license to store, display, back up, and process your content for you and for the people you choose to share it with. That license exists only to operate Volvelle, ends when you delete the content or your account, and never includes selling your content or using it to train AI models. (More on data in the Privacy Policy, and on AI in the AI Diligence Statement.)

You are responsible for what you upload. It must be yours to share, it must not infringe anyone else's intellectual property (for example, do not paste in copyrighted rulebook text that is not openly licensed), and it must not be illegal.

04Using Volvelle responsibly#

Please do not:

  • break the law, or use Volvelle to help anyone else do so;
  • harass, threaten, or abuse other people;
  • upload content that is illegal, infringing, or that you do not have the right to share;
  • scrape, overload, probe, or attempt to break the security of the service;
  • resell or misrepresent the service as your own.

If content or an account breaks these rules, we may remove the content or suspend the account.

05Game content and licensing#

Volvelle includes tabletop game content that is provided under open licenses. How each piece of content is licensed, and how to attribute it, is set out on the Content Licenses page. Your own homebrew must respect third-party intellectual property.

06The service is provided "as-is"#

We work hard to make Volvelle reliable, but we provide it as-is and as-available, without warranties of any kind. We cannot guarantee that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost, and we may add, change, or remove features over time. Please keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.

07Limits on liability#

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Volvelle and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the service, or for loss of data or content. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you, including mandatory consumer-protection rights.

08Changes to these terms#

We may update these Terms and Conditions. If a change is material, we will note it here with a new date and announce it in the changelog before it takes effect. Continuing to use Volvelle after a change means you accept the updated terms.

09Ending your use#

You can stop using Volvelle and delete your account and data at any time; the Privacy Policy explains how. We may suspend or end access for accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk.

10Governing law#

These terms are governed by the laws of Poland, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Polish courts, except where the law that applies to you as a consumer gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
